What support is available in Romford?
Step 1 — Lifestyle and coaching support
Our health coaches and dietitians work with patients on the practical fundamentals: what to eat, how to move, and how to build habits that actually last. You don't need a GP appointment to start — just ask our reception team for a referral.
Step 2 — NHS medication (Oviva referral)
If lifestyle changes alone haven't been enough, and you meet the eligibility criteria, our Clinical Pharmacists can refer you to Oviva — the NHS-approved weight management programme. Oviva can provide access to GLP-1 medications including Wegovy (semaglutide) and Mounjaro (tirzepatide) as part of a structured programme.
Oviva referral criteria
- A BMI of 30 or above
- At least one of the following: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnoea, or heart disease

If you have type 2 diabetes, a different pathway may apply — speak to your GP directly, as you may be eligible for GLP-1 medication through a diabetes management route.
Step 3 — Bariatric surgery
For patients who have tried lifestyle approaches and medication without sufficient results, and who meet strict NHS eligibility criteria, our GPs can support a referral for weight loss surgery on the NHS. This is a longer process — typically 12–18 months of pre-operative assessment — and is not suitable for everyone.
