We're pleased to share that Abbamoor now offers referrals to Oviva — an NHS-approved specialist weight management service — for patients who meet the eligibility criteria.
What is Oviva?
Oviva is a digital health programme commissioned by the NHS. It provides structured support for weight management, combining dietary coaching, lifestyle guidance, and — where clinically appropriate — access to GLP-1 medications such as Wegovy (semaglutide) and Mounjaro (tirzepatide).
The programme is delivered via app and is free to eligible patients on the NHS.
Who can be referred?
To be referred to Oviva from Abbamoor, you need:
- A BMI of 30 or above
- At least one of the following: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnoea, or heart disease
If you have type 2 diabetes, a different pathway may apply — please speak to your GP.
NHS Specialist Pathways
There are direct referrals to NHS specialist weight management clinics (Tier 3 and Tier 4). This route is primarily for patients with Type 2 Diabetes or more complex clinical needs.
However, stricter rules apply for this pathway. Access to these NHS clinics is heavily prioritised, and the thresholds for acceptance are much stricter than the Oviva programme.
How to access at Abbamoor
If you think you may meet either criteria, book an appointment with one of our Clinical Pharmacists. They will review your records, confirm eligibility, and submit the referral on your behalf. You do not need to see a GP first.
